In “Dream,” the comedy’s night is populated by actors, spirits, and lost travelers, in a constant shift between reality and vision.
In the director’s notes, Rosario Sparno describes William Shakespeare’s strolling players as “a point of contact between the human and magical worlds.”
“In the comedy’s forest, perhaps on the night of San Giovanni, the clash between masculine and feminine, between surrender and attack, by the light of the moon, becomes a time of anarchy of the senses, ambiguity, and visions, while spirits pass through the woods, causing travelers to lose their way.
The actors’ work is a secret one.
The actors lead us by the hand through the darkness, give us the courage to cross the night,
invite us to dream with them, for a brief but meaningful lapse of time.”
