You can find me at the theater on tour with Re Chicchinella, the new show by Emma Dante, also adapted from a fairy tale from “Lo cunto de li cunti” or “Lo trattenemiento de peccerelle”, a wonderful collection of short stories in the Neapolitan language, which Giambattista Basile created in 1634.
Angelica Bifano is an actress, playwright and performer. In 2016, she founded Collettivo L’Amalgama together with nine fellow Academy graduates, with whom she continues to work on a regular basis.
Her work grows out of a dialogue with artists from the contemporary performing arts who, over the years, have shaped and transformed her artistic research, keeping alive an ongoing exchange between writing, acting and performance-making.
This journey has led to the creation of the Family Trilogy, in which origins become the starting point from which to observe and question the complexity of being human. For Bifano, the family is the place where each person’s character is formed, and from which an exploration begins into human nature, its fragilities and fractures, but also the tenderness that often remains hidden. Each performance is the result of an artistic encounter and, at the same time, a new stage in the same ongoing research.
Angelica Bifano is co-founder of Collettivo L’Amalgama, a theater company founded in 2016 by ten actors and actresses who trained between 2013 and 2016 at the Civic Academy of Dramatic Arts “Nico Pepe” in Udine, under the guidance of nationally and internationally renowned directors and educators.
Collettivo L’Amalgama was born as a space for theatrical research and production. Since its founding, it has developed a variety of performances—original creations, adaptations, and contemporary dramaturgies—receiving awards and recognition over time. In 2021, the company became a cultural association.
